Dance Pilates for adults

In 1925 Joseph Pilates and his wife Clara sailed across the Atlantic bound for New York.  It was here in New York City that Joseph Pilates set up his studio and so began what was to become the world’s fastest growing form of rehabilitative exercise.

In his studio Joseph Pilates would rehabilitate and train the bodies of ballet dancers from the New York City Ballet company.  Dancers as famous as Martha Graham and George Balanchine would take Pilates classes. As the word of his method spread so the New York Ballet company put Joseph Pilates on the map.

Caroline, with her extensive training in both Ballet and Jazz dance, has introduced this new, exciting and unique workout, Dance Pilates.  Combining the disciplines and techniques of Ballet, Jazz and Pilates, Dance Pilates was created.

This class is fun, creative and hard work.  It is a full-body workout combining the flowing movement, control and concentration of Pilates with the grace, poise, balance and creativity of dance.

The flow and grace of dance is incorporated into dynamic sequences and strength moves which encourage good posture, weight-loss and flexibility.

No matter what your experience, age, shape or size, Dance Pilates is creative, fun and hardwork, giving you a unique and full-body workout.

Dance Pilates for girls

Dancing leaves us feeling happy and relaxed. It is a fun way for children to develop co-ordination and control of the limbs.

Dance Pilates combines the disciplines of ballet, pilates and jazz. It offers a unique opportunity for children to learn to dance, develop an appreciation of music, a sense of rhythm and a love of movement. If you can dance, any other form of movement becomes easy.

In dance pilates children will:

• learn to walk and move with the grace and poise of a ballerina
• learn an appreciation of music
• release energy
• improve balance and co-ordination
• develop a joy of moving to music and interpreting music in make-believe dances
• build up stamina, flexibility and rhythmic ability
• open up a whole new world of dance which should last them a lifetime
